If you can draw lines and dots, then you can definitely make a zentangle art. Even though the overall zentangle art image can look intimidating or complicated, in actuality it is made of simple patterns consisting of lines and dots. 

I have observed that the triangle based patterns are most commonly used in zentangle and mandala art. Therefore, I have created a collection of triangle patterns. If you are looking for circle patterns do check out circle based patterns

Initially, I found it quite difficult to create my own patterns. I used to look it up online but with time and practice I tried making a few changes, improvising the existing patterns by adding a bit of doodles to create a new pattern. If you are a beginner I suggest you try this. In your free time try to make a few altercations here and there in these patterns. You will get ideas to create your own patterns. For example, in the first two patterns you can replicate the basic idea on both sides. I haven't done that here but you can make those simple changes to suit your drawings accordingly.
