Instagram caption ideas for artists | Do's and don't | 25 quote caption for art post

Hey guys! In this blog I am going to write about captions for art accounts. What are the different types of captions that you could use, do's and don't and also few quote captions for art based posts. 

If you are a budding artist and have started art accounts on Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook etc. , then you know it's not just posting your artwork. It's much more than that! Once you're done with artwork, you have to edit it, write a caption, choose the right hashtags, making videos or tutorials and the list goes on.

Let me just quickly explain what captions are. Captions are basically a short description below a picture/post that gives an idea about the post to the viewers. Now on the social media platforms it can be used for different purpose too. Like connecting with audience. Here's a list of different types of captions you can use in your art accounts. 

TYPES OF CAPTIONS 

1.  Explain your artwork. This gives an idea to your followers, if  they are not already familiar with the genre/medium of art.                                                                                                                   
2.  Mention the art supplies used in making the artwork.                                                                      
3.  Explain what inspired your artwork. In case you have used a reference you can mention the reference links.                                                                                                                                                            
4.  Quotes. I personally use this the most. Find a quote that is appropriate to the post or if you can write it yourself.                                                                                                                         
5.  Asking suggestions/feedback. This helps you interact, spark conversion with your followers too. This gives you an idea of what interests your audience.                                                                                                                                                               
6.  Getting a little personal and write about what you are going through. As much as we try, it is sometimes not possible to post regularly. Whether it is art block or busy schedule or some personal reason. Being honest and telling your followers builds  connection and understanding because they go through it too.                                                                                                                                                                                                           
7.  If you love to write poem or love reading them, you can use caption as a platform to express. 

With this, now we'll see what to do and what to avoid while writing captions. Here's the list of do's and don't. 

DO'S 

1.  Make sure that captions are short. When you are writing about your experience, inspiration or explaining your art it maybe difficult, so that's okay. At least when it's possible make it short and simple.                                                                              
2.  If you are using someone else's quote/ captions/ poem, make  sure to give credit either by tagging them or mentioning their name.                                                                                              
3.  Reply. Especially when the purpose of your caption is interaction Eg. when you have asked for suggestions or feedback.                                                                                         
4.  Use emoji, add a little bit of fun to your captions.                                                                  
5.  Try out different types of captions to find what's best for you. If   interactive caption or your poems/ personal experience is helping you with followers then go with it. Mix it up every now and then.                                               

     

DON'T 

1.  If you are choosing to go for quotes or poem as caption, choose  it appropriate to the art post. If you don't find it, then go for  generic but art based quote. Avoid using random quotes.                                                                                                                              
2.  Don't mention something you are not completely aware of. Eg. While writing about supplies. If you are new and using  colors or brushes and don't know specific details avoid mentioning it. It's totally okay to not know some things.                                                                                                                         
3.  Do not copy captions. If you don't find anything or run out of   ideas, then get real and say "no caption idea" or go with "caption this".                                                                                          
4.  Don't leave the caption part empty. If nothing just go with  simply emoji associated with art or just a small title for your art or literally what it is.                                                                  

As I have mentioned earlier, I personally use quotes for captions most of the time. I'll just go ahead and mention those here if anyone is interested, do check these out. I will try and write another blog specifically about quote collection.
