How to create an Instagram art account? Easy step-by-step instructions including Username, bio ideas.

Instagram allows it's users to have multiple accounts (upto 5 accounts) with ease to switch between accounts without having to log in and out every time. If you have a hobby like cooking, gardening, painting, poetry, skincare, fashion etc. you can use these multiple account option for your advantage. You can use it to showcase your talents, hobby, find like-minded accounts, learn, watch and more.

This blog post is detailed step-by-step instructions of how to set up an art account on Instagram. When you are starting an art account with certain goal in your mind, like reaching 1K or 5K followers, you need to know that it takes time, patience and effort but with right set of information and tactics it is possible to reach there faster. I'll mention all the things I learnt when I first started, which of those works, mistakes I made and lessons learned.

Okay, so let's get started.

(Assuming that you have a personal account and want to add an art account.) Here's what you do.

Long press on profile picture icon, click on add account. First thing it asks you is a username. This is the first and an important step. I have created a separate blog post regarding username for art accounts which includes 100+ usernames you can check that out if you are looking for usernames. Anyway, I'll sum it up. Username is like your ID, it has to be unique, short, catchy, include your art genre if possible. Do not worry too much about it. You always have option to change it later if you wish.

After typing your username, you'll have to set a password and enter your birth date. Now, if you already have a personal account, same email and phone details will be used automatically, else you will have to enter it.

Next, it'll ask if you want to connect this account with your FB account. If you want, select yes or else skip it. If you want to change it later you can do so in settings.

Now you are asked to select a profile picture. You can use personal picture, one of your art photo or something related to your art style (royalty free). Again, you can skip this step and add it later if you wish.

Now your account is set.

Next step is completing your profile. I personally suggest you do this before you start posting. You can edit the profile whenever you want. Click on Edit profile option. When you click on edit profile, here's what you will need to fill up.

NAME. It can be confusing between username and name. Username is the important one, it has to be unique and no two accounts can have same username. Whereas, NAME on the other hand is not restricted and you can skip this if you want. Eg. If your username is paintwithme123, then you can use your real name ( like Sam) or pseudo name as NAME. Unlike USERNAME, name is not mandatory.

After filling the name, fill in the username option. (Same as one you filled in the very beginning)

If you have a website you'd like to include in the profile, there's an option available but only for one website. So if you have multiple websites, chose carefully as to which one you would like to display. If you don't have any website, you can leave it empty. If you end up having one in future you can always come back and edit it.

Next up is Bio. This can be filled up-to 150 characters. It can include tags like your personal account for eg. @sam. You can also include hashtags like #oilpaintings etc.

Here are few ideas for bio.

•  Country

•  Age / Gender / Pronouns

•  Art Genre (eg. Oil paintings, watercolor painting, mandala art, pencil sketching, digital art etc.)

•  If you have more than one art genre, mention them with separator  eg: watercolor painting | digital art | mandala

•  Accomplishments, if any.

•  Your favorite quote.

•  Short words of wisdom that you believe like, BE KIND.

•  If your trying different styles then mention it.

•  A small glimpse of yourself , your interests. It could be anything like your favourite TV show, movies, books, idol, favourite place etc.

•  If it is a business account and you are planning to sell your art, then mention your contact details like mail or dm or number whichever you prefer.

•  If you have goals like reaching 1K followers or something like that you can mention it as well.

Website is not included in Bio part. So all in all you have 150 characters, you can use a combination of above mentioned as a part of your Bio.

It is better to finish your profile before you start posting.  If your post catches anyone's eye on feed and they like your post and want to follow you, they might get back to your profile to have a look at your content. So it's better to have the profile set up before you start posting.

Good luck and hope this helps you in setting up your own art account.
